Biography

 -TERRY LEE-

As a native Houstonian, a rarity these days, I  hold two licensures in the state of Texas: one in chemical dependency counseling, the other in massage therapy. In 2004, I trained to be a volunteer for Houston Hospice, a life-changing training session I believe would benefit all. I  truly believe Hospice, contrary to popular belief, is not about dying. Hospice is about helping individuals and their family live as fully as possible until death occurs.

Although writing has been a part of my genetic lineage, the writing bug didn’t officially dig in and grab hold until 2007. From then on, my true life passion sprouted and came into full bloom. I am an observer by nature…ask any close friend or family member. I have studied people for years. But most annoying to my friends and family...lines and movie dialogues. (I can see the bobble-head nodding...you know who you are:)

When I write, I pull from what I know—real people, real life and all the obstacles in between. My intent is to deliver stories with wisdom, warmth, a medley of emotions and always a touch of humor, which I often find to be the elixir of life.

I reside in the Sugar Land area, am married and have a passel of grandchildren I adore. As a hobby, I crochet baby blankets (quite obsessively) and assemble no-sew fleece blankets for the infants, children & teens at Houston Hospice as well as the Linus Project.  -  “Crocheting keeps my hands busy at night while I study movies and sit-coms for story ideas.” 

I always said I'd learn to knit when I grew up. So far, that hasn’t happened-knitting or completely growing up...I'm a kid at heart.

Side note about the photo: Although not a professional photo, I often resort to this shot. The hand on my shoulder is my brother's, Bill (Billy) Lee. Billy has my dad's hands. So, when I look at this picture I often feel as though my dad, who died in 1990, has his arm around me. Makes me smile...
